For the second year in a row, HP has won a Most Trusted Company award for privacy from TRUSTe and Ponemon Institute. Winners are chosen from Consumer Survey responses and by a panel of expert reviewers. Awards were presented to the winners in Washington , DC on March 7.

The Wall Street Journal gave a runner-up Global Technology Innovation Award in its semiconductor category to the HP Labs' molecular crossbar latch team for developing the technology that may be able to replace transistors. Phil Kuekes, senior computer architect, was also named Best of Small Tech researcher of the year award by the nanotechnology publication Small Times. For his contributions to the crossbar latch and other advances, Phil accepted his award at the publication's NanoCommerce conference in Chicago Nov. 2.

For the second time in four years HP Labs has been named as a business leader by Scientific American — recognized for outstanding acts of leadership in science and technology and honored for its contributions in building nanoscale circuits. This is the second time the Nanoelectronics Group has been recognized.

Goetz Graefe is HP Labs' newest HP Fellow. Graefe, who joined HP in 2007, is currently pursuing research in business intelligence, specifically on improving robustness, reliability and total cost of ownership of HP's business intelligence products. In the October issue of T+D (Training + Development Magazine) HP is named as second place overall winner for the ASTD BEST award for 2005. This award is given to organizations that demonstrate enterprise-wide success as a result of employee learning and development, which is done by connecting learning and performance to measurable results.

HP wins Purchasing magazine's Medal of Professional Excellence for the second time

When HP and Compaq merged in 2002, the company faced the challenge of integrating two massive and very different supply chain operations. HP leveraged the best of strategies and processes in both organizations, such as Compaq's strength in centralized purchasing, and HP's strength in involving customers in new product development. The company also implemented initiatives to cut supply chain costs. The resulting strategies and practices are the reason why HP becomes the first company to win this prestigious award twice, having won for the first time in 1992. HP is the winner of Purchasing magazine's 2004 Medal of Professional Excellence, which is awarded each year to the company considered to have the best purchasing strategy across any industry.

India's BPO group wins Six Sigma Award

In January, HP's Business Process Outsourcing (BPO) group in India was honored with an award for the best Six Sigma quality improvement project of the year from the Indian Statistical Institute and Quality Council of India. To win the award, BPO bested 40 blue chip multi-national and Indian companies with The Green Belt project. Developed and implemented by the Chennai EMEA Migrations team, the project involved migrating HP and Compaq customer contractual data into an integrated IT environment, saving 10 full-time equivalent headcount and $500,000 in costs. In addition to winning the award, the project received rave reviews from peers.

HP is the only technology vendor among Fortune magazine’s 10 ‘Green Giants’ – a list of companies that have gone beyond what the law requires to operate in an environmentally responsible way. HP owns massive e-waste recycling plants and will take back any brand of equipment; its own machines are 100 percent recyclable.

For the 17th time in Working Mother magazine’s 22 years of existence, HP has appeared on its Working Mother 100 Best Companies list. Working Mother honors companies that score highest in categories such as flexibility, leaves for new parents, child care, company culture, advancement of women and compensation.
HP was inducted into the Working Mother Hall of Fame in 2005, was recently honored at the 2007 Working Mother 100 Best Companies Work/Life Congress event.

HP recently achieved Global ISO 9001:2000 certification, establishing a single Global Quality Management System (QMS) within HP -- resulting in a singular approach toward providing products, services and solutions of the highest quality. ISO 9001:2000 certification is a measure often used by large enterprise, government, education and healthcare customers to assess the quality of their suppliers.
In 2001, HP began consolidating single-site certificates into regional certificates. With this global certificate, HP now has all three major geographic regions (Americas, EMEA and APJ) listed on one certificate. HP's global scope of certification is for the design, development, marketing, sales, order fulfillment, procurement, manufacturing, remanufacturing and delivery of the complete range of IT products, services and solutions.
